Horror Finds at Goodwill #2-3

Oh boy. This is awkward again!

I’ve been around and sitting down to do this post was just NOT happening. So here I am about two weeks late. Oops. Life comes at you pretty fast and catches up with you and you find yourself dealing with doctor appointments, running errands, doing chores, trying to get your own space together, we had a historic flood in this state (I am safe as well as my family) so it’s been very all over the place. But we are back to talk about what we love over here which is horror!

Like I had mentioned (if I remembered) in the previous post, I had been to a few Goodwills and I did the first location in that post. Now, I want to share some cool finds that fit the bill. Mostly books and some dvds but we love that shit.

It’s nothing too crazy. You’ll see some classics (literature) thrown in because I am a bookworm but please take time to look through your thrift stores. Sometimes you have to look more than once in the same spot to find something cool or hidden. I can mention those when we get to them!

Onward!

So the first Goodwill stop in the week was the furthest away from where I was at for the morning! This Goodwill I used to go to all the time when I was going to art school because it was right down the street and if I had time in between classes, I’d go there. My first destination is always toys (and electronics) because you can find horror stuff. I remember finding a Ghostface flashlight that you can wear around your neck (update: it’s called a safety light!) so you just never know.

I didn’t find much there besides a Spongebob board game, I did pick up a Rainbow High doll (I collect them, I have a lot of them and other dolls. Please follow on IG cos I do post my dolls, especially horror ones) with a missing hand (I found replacements) but I looked through the grab bags, didn’t find anything too interesting. Then I walked to the books/media section and we struck a little bit of gold. Finding True Blood S1 would be great to rewatch as an adult “adult” but only after I get the opportunity to read “Dead Until Dark”, the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. And tons of classics to read down the line.

Now within the same day, I went to another Goodwill that was much closer to where I was supposed to be. You know how you can kind of breeze walk through a store, just seeing what they have because you’re on a time crunch? Yes, that was me and for that speed, I bought an item that was completely trash. I didn’t check it thoroughly and it is now back into a donation box. But back to thrifting… I found a very interesting motherload of books on the shelves. There were VARIOUS books that I was interested in or I already owned and right above, they were loaded with dvds and vhs tapes so I had to actually take my time to look through some books that I either recognized or took a chance on. I loved that I found Warm Bodies (the novel) AND the film (I’ve seen it before). I also have been making some choices of not limiting myself when it comes to finding physical media in horror so if it’s horror, it ends up in my cart. Or arms.

Like I said above, nothing too spectacular. I found a portable dvd player at the second goodwill but unfortunately, I did not check it and part of the inside where it spins the disc, there’s a piece missing? So essentially, I lost like 5 bucks on that but I’m still on the hunt for a portable dvd player. Besides the missing hand, that was the biggest disappointment but I think overall, I found some great additions into my collection.

I haven’t been to Goodwill or any thrift stores since then, I plan on going again soon but gotta find the time! Until then, I’ll see you guys til next time and if you are a thrifter of all things horror/spooky, what’s the craziest thing you’ve found?

Peace, love and chicken grease.
